Kudos from Methodist Dallas Medical Center Clinic and Social Services
for the Sew 'n Sews of Presbyterian Village
Lois Hesse (left), longtime Leader/co-Leader of Sew 'n Sew at Lovers Lane UMC, was recognized for her decades of work preparing items for Labor & Delivery/NICU department at Methodist Dallas Medical Center. She began the 25 (+-) year tradition of sending home the December newborns from the hospital in a red and white felt stocking, cutting the patterns out and distributing at the Auxiliary for sewing together!
The count was up to 300 newborns in December, when they asked for smaller stockings to stuff items for the newborn's care at just 100 in 2023. Baby caps, baby blankets, booties, and bereavement layettes, were items produced for decades. Since moving to Presbyterian Village North, she has joined the Sew 'n Sew group there under the leadership of Jan Bentley (right). Though eyesight is dimming, Lois still stuffs the very cute baby bears, bunnies, dogs, and cats, and oversees sewing at Lovers Lane.
